此物種的控制可能是困難的由於它的豐富、到處存在、高生殖率與生理上的高包容力.(Deborahet al.2003) 螃蟹的陷籠,並不足以充份減輕螃蟹引起的損害。為了在德國避免螃蟹的移民從河口向上,在 1930-40 年代,裝置電網在河底部,每分鐘通電 30-40 次,用來殺死或癱瘓螃蟹,但是此控制方法,成效不佳。(McEnnulty et al.2001) 此外,英國自然史博物館的動物學家,曾經建議(在the Biologist),增該招集漁民瞄準捕撈此物種並送它回中國,在中國它是一種珍貴的食材(歐恩 2003)。英國捕捉螃蟹的輸出,會幫助減經本土瀕危植物與動物的壓力。
