    Impacts:
    Agricole: Irrespective of crop the seedling or nursery stage is the most preferred stage and the most vulnerable. In some situations infestations of crops in the seedling stage are so severe as to demand changes in the crop species cultivated. In Mariana Islands, for example, A. fulica infestations made it uneconomic to grow watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) and papaya (Carica papaya) (Chamberlin 1952, Raut & Ghose 1984, in Raut & Barker 2002). Thus production of some crops has proved unsustainable in certain infested areas.
