    Species Notes for this Location:
    A feral cat population became established on St Helena during the 16th century. Cats are now widespread on St Helena, especially around settlements. They may have been deliberately intoduced by the Portugese to control rats.
    Management Notes for this Location:
    Some trapping around settlements has been carried out by the Public Health Department since 1989. It is believed they have declined in numbers since trapping began.
