    Species Notes for this Location:
Say et al. (2002) estimated the density of cats on Kerguelen Island to be between 0.15 to 2.42 cats per km², and suggest that the total population size of cats is much lower than the previously expected 7000. Introduced rats do not appear to be part of the cats' diet on this island, rabbits are potential sources of prey (Zavaleta et al. 2001, in Zavaleta, 2002).

    Location Notes:
Reduction in native biodiversity: It is reported that during the 1970s feral cats killed as many as 1.2 million sea birds a year (Nogales et al 2004).
