Location Notes: Ahnd Atoll is one of the most biologically diverse and undisturbed atolls in Pohnpei State. The atoll is home to 13 species of reptiles including the green turtle (see Chelonia mydas in IUCN Red List of Threatened species) and the hawksbill turtle (see Eretmochelys imbricata in IUCN Red List of Threatened species). It is also home to at least 25 bird species, 7 mammal species, several species of land and coconut crabs, and hundreds of marine species. Impacts: Reduction in native biodiversity: Pacific rats (Rattus exulans) prey on birds, turtle eggs, coconut crabs and hundreds of other small land creatures that inhabit the atoll, consequently reducing biodiversity of the atoll.
